Abuse in our community
By: Robson, Kelly,
And Hali’a
Introduction :Community profile:
Every sixty seconds, an animal is abused. Every year there are about 900 to 2000 cases of animal hoarding. Over 115 million animals are killed or experimented in laboratories every year. About 100 million animals in the U.S. are burned, poisoned, crippled, and abused in other ways every year. Looking at these statistics we have had enough. There are too many innocent animals being abused, tested on, or even just trying to survive. We want to make a difference community by cutting these numbers down. Although we are just high school kids we are willing to lend a hand to all animal lovers. We have
Different organizations we found all do their best to keep the animals that they have or animals in general safe. They all allow donations to help the cause. Some of them hold events to get more support to help stop animal abuse. Organizations we found include, ASPCA, San Diego Farm Animal Rescue, and the Humane society. There are people and communities who have different ways to help animals with businesses dedicated to this cause. Unfortunately not enough people care about animal abuse, so not enough people support these organizations, or donate to help. It is also a common issue that people know about this because, only they don’t think it's as important as other current issues. There should be more people spreading awareness about animal abuse, and more ways to spread awareness rather than mostly just websites people might just happen to come across. It's good that their are people, if any, who care.
Who We Are/ Mission Statement:
Animal Abuse is a huge issue around the world. All though we can't change the world at the moment we can help our community. By making our community aware about animal abuse, we can help this message spread farther and farther. Every 10 seconds an animal is abused. That is horrible to think about. We need to change that. It's not fair for the animals. They shouldn't be abused, tested on, or anything else. To us and many people the idea of animal abuse is one of the worst things that could ever happen. We want to make a difference in our community.
Action Steps:
The first thing we will do to spread awareness about animal abuse is create a website talking about the issues about animal abuse and how readers can help to stop it. The website should be a way to convince more people that animal abuse is an important issue. The second thing we are going to do is try to create an annual holiday where we don't eat meat for a day. It's basically a day where people are vegetarian for the day. The third thing we are going to do is get into contact with an organization that houses animals, essentially a place we found that houses farm animals and helps them, as well as spreads awareness that we need to stop hurting them. We are going to try to contact these people and find a way to donate to them, or at least tell more people about them.

Impact:
Raising awareness will help stop animal abuse in our community. We found that animal abuse is difficult to stop because not enough people know about it or want to help stop it so hopefully if we can convince more people that animals are important and that they shouldn’t be abused or harmed. We know we can’t change the world but if we can save the life of one animal, in our eyes, it’s saving a million.

Slide 1: (introduction) Robson
“Introduce ourselves”
Thank you for coming to our presentation on animal abuse.
Slide 2:(what is animal abuse) Kelly
Every 60 seconds an animal is abused.
Animal abuse comes in many different forms whether it's keeping dozens of them as pets or physically harming them. Animal abuse can even be the environments they are forced to live in. This occurred mostly in factory farms.
Slide 3:(who we are) Halia
We are trying to spread awareness on the topic of animal abuse any why it is important to stop. We have three main plans on how we are going to do this.
Slide 4:(why we care) Robson
We believe that animal abuse is one of the worst possible things that could happen. Animals don't deserve that kind of treatment. We all care a lot for all animals.
Slide 5:(our community) Kelly
Our community has several businesses that help out animals like the SDFAR. We know there are people that care but many of them don't do anything to help. Originations like the SDFAR help spread awareness about animal abuse.
Slide 6:(problems we have) Hali’a
Some main issues or struggles we have when trying to stop animal abuse is how little people care. It is common that people know about animal abuse but they don't think it's as important as other current issues. It's also almost impossible to stop animal abuse completely so the most we can do to help us to spread awareness.
Slide 7:(why you should care) Robson
Every day animals are forced to be stuck in horrible living conditions. Sometimes it's just that they don't have enough attention if they are being hoarded in homes or crowded together inches away in factory farms. They need our help to give them a better life.
Slide 8:(website) Kelly
The first thing we are going to do to help is to create a website informing readers about the problem of animal abuse and how they can help. It will include links to other organizations we found important and information on how they can donate to these organizations.
Slide 9:(contacting people) Hali’a
The second thing we're going to do is contact an organization we found that houses farm animals and sells them. They also spread awareness about stopping animal abuse and we are going to find a way to donate to them.
Slide 10:(vegetarian day) Robson
The third thing we are going to do it create a day at our school similar to bone break day and day of peace, where participants don't eat meat for the entire day. People basically become vegetarian for the day in honor of the animals being abused every day.
Slide 11:(our goals) Kelly
Our goals are to make sure more people care about this cause and help to stop it. Hopefully in the future we can help decrease the amount of animal abuse in the world.

Slide 14:(communities who care) Kelly
Some communities we found include the ASPCA, the Humane Society, and San Diego Farm Animal Rescue. All of these organizations support stopping animal abuse and helping animals get better homes and better environments to live in.
Slide 15:(impact on the community) Hali’a
If the community understands why stopping animal abuse is important than we can protect the animals within our community. It's not a lot but it's still important.
Slide 16:(why animals matter) Robson
Animals matter just like we matter. They never did anything to deserve being abused. On our part we should realize that we get mad when we are abused so why is it any different with animals.
Slide 17:(how can you help) Kelly
You can help simply by telling as many people about this cause as you can or donating to organizations. Maybe you could go buy a pet from a shelter. If you are interested in donating but don't want to find a website to donate to, we will have a donation box.
Slide 18:(Donation box) Hali’a
We will have a donation box in the front desk high tech high where we than give the money to San Diego farm animal rescue.
Slide 19: (Future plans) Robson
We are going to continue to help the SDFAR by keeping the donation box and also selling their t-shirts and giving them the money.
