Assignment
We were told to write about writing, meaning it could be about what writing means to us, what writing is, why its important or not important. Basically we could write about whatever we wanted as long as the main topic or point was about writing. I enjoyed this project as I really enjoy writing which I'm sure I mention somewhere in the assignment below.
Writing about writing
Writing is something that's incredibly unique and special, and I don't care who says otherwise. It’s something that you can use to express yourself, or how something is. It can also be used to just make something fun and pointless. In any form of writing, and believe me, there are a lot of them, writing is one of the most beautiful art forms. It’s almost magical, as it can be used in so many different ways and I don’t think it gets enough credit for how amazing it is. Personally, I enjoy writing because its a way for me to get rid of all of the thoughts filling my head with worries, anxieties, fears, etc. This is because when I write, it's almost like multitasking, meaning I only have enough room in my head at once to type/ write, think, and remember how to use proper grammar. For whatever reason, when I'm not doing something to occupy my brain, I can't stop thinking about things like the future, and how people think and how things work, as well as just dealing with the stupid thoughts that fill my head that hardly make any sense. Overall, my thoughts are compiled into a huge unorganised mess of absolute nonsense that's always screaming and breaking apart, and writing, for me at least, is one of the few ways I can silence it out.
Another way writing is so unique, is the fact that it's so easy to create, but equally so easy to mess up entirely. When you write you have to be able to create something that's understandable to whoever is reading or hearing it. This is difficult as everyone thinks and understands things differently. I suppose that's why there's different reading levels and such, as it is incredibly hard to make something for everyone. I believe that the perfect story should be complex and understandable by anyone who comes to read or hear it. Almost like when you rewatch an old movie that you haven't seen in many years and you understand it differently than when you did when you were young. I see this a lot with old disney movies or cartoons, as when your a kid you know a lot less information, so shows can add things that only adults will understand. These can range from dumb jokes, or morals, and little messages that have to do with some kind of shared struggle. That just my opinion though. Other people like a story that's simple, and easy to understand, with easy morals and not too much thinking needed to understand it. Some people like stories that make them wait just a little bit before it gives them any answers. I like a story that doesn't give you answers, but only clues so the definition to the story can be determined by yourself. I want to find a story that makes you think. The best book example of this I can think of is “The Life Of Pi” as it never really tells you what really happened in the story. I need to find more books like that to read.
