more About the project
For this project, we were separated into different teams that researched, made, or created different things for the overall "watershed project". I was put into the Elfin Forest team. This was the largest team which was difficult. The Elfin Forest team's job, was to create something to be presented in the visitors center at Elfin Forest. My job in this team, was to create different art pieces to put up of animals, plants, bugs, basically anything living, that was in Elfin forest. I started by sketching out what all of my art was going to look like, and I am much prouder of the sketches than the final products, which were re-drawn versions of the sketches which were colored in with watercolors. I’m happier with my sketches because during this project, I majorly improved my realistic art which for years now i’ve doubted I would ever be able to do.
Reflection:
I can't say I liked or disliked this project, I guess it was somewhere in the middle. In the beginning, everything was organised, and I had a lot of time to work on my art pieces, but after those first few weeks everything got super chaotic. I also think it was difficult with how many people we had in our group. So much, that even now, after our few month project is completed, I still don’t remember who was in my project group. On the more positive side, I learned a lot during this project, for one thing, I got better at studying, and managing my time better, and something i’m more proud of, is I improved a bit in drawing realistic art. I’m not including that fact in my water colored finish products, I wasn't proud of those, but if I would have had more time I could have made them 100 times better. During the last few weeks of this project, everything was super stressful. Not so much because we were waiting for the long period of time where we had to present everything we did, but we had a difficult time finishing everything on time. I finished my art for example, a few days before it was time to present, and what I finished was definitely not the best work I could have done. Probably because it was an hour or so rushed because of the time limits.
After completing this project, well almost completing it, as of tomorrow (Friday 6, 2017) we are going to present one more time only instead of being at school were presentinng at Elfin Forest. Aside from that, having basically finished this project, I can say that it was fun at times, stressful for most of it, and I learned a lot more than I thought I would which was cool. Although, I will be honest, and say I would not do this project again, as it was too rushed, and unorganised. Something else that impacted the watershed project for me, was us also learning a section of chemistry, while trying to find the time to do project work. This year, chemistry was actually a really fun class for me that I was excited about when I learned at the beginning of the year, that we were learning chemistry for the first semester. As many know, i’m still glad it’s over, as I couldn't be more excited to be doing art for the second half of the year.
